Frequently asked questions

How many days do I need in Miami?
Two to three days covers the beach plus one or two neighborhoods at a comfortable pace. Four to five days adds a day trip, to the Everglades or down the Keys, without rushing. The How Many Days guide breaks down what fits into each length of stay.

When is hurricane season in Miami?
Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 (NOAA), with the highest storm risk typically in late summer and early fall. Trips in those months can be great value; the planning guide explains how to book with flexible terms so a storm watch does not sink the trip.

Is any Miami public transport free?
Yes. The Metromover, Miami-Dade Transit's automated people mover, loops through downtown Miami and Brickell and is free to ride. Metrorail and Metrobus charge fares. The Getting Around guide covers all of it.

Are Miami Beach spring break rules the same every year?
No. The City of Miami Beach sets spring break measures, including curfews and restrictions, fresh each season. Check the spring break guide and the Miami Updates notices page for the current year's rules before you travel.

Which guide should a first time visitor read first?
The First Time in Miami guide, then Best Time to Visit for your dates, then Getting Around Miami. Together they settle where to stay, when to come, and how you will actually move around.
